The Loft resident theatre company Bottom Dog Theatre Company in association with Music Theatre West is proud to announce the Irish premiere of Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens.

The production, which will be held from 7th to 11th September 2010 in the Loft Venue as part of Limerick Pride Festival, sees a host of well known Limerick performers...... coming together to perform this critically acclaimed song cycle.

Written by Bill Russell and Janet Hood, Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens features songs and monologues inspired by the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. Each of the monologues is written from the perspective of characters who have died from AIDS and the songs represent the feelings of friends and family members dealing with the loss.The show is described as ‘a celebration of lives lost to AIDS told in free-verse monologues with a blues, jazz and rock score, this piece is designed to include the community in a theatrical response to the AIDS crisis’.

The production will be directed by Myle Breen.

The Laughing Loft returns once again on Friday, Sept 24th, this time with Steve Cummins. Steve has been a comedian for five years and has been full time since January 2004. He has performed in every major venue throughout Ireland and has performed at the Edinburgh festival.

Show kicks off at 9pm and tickets for the Laughing Loft are €15 (€12 concession).

One of Limerick’s favourite ensembles Choke Comedy Improv made their debut at The Loft this summer when they performed their madcap theatre games and improvised comedy. They are back on stage on Friday Sept 17th at 8.00pm for another not to be missed night. Tickets just €10.
